From Beginning to Completion- the jewelry making processAfter the initial consultation between customer and artist we proceed with a sketch that meets the customer's approval. Then, a wax model is constructed, which can be viewed for further approval or modification. Viewing the piece in "3-D" insures customer satisfaction with what will be the end result. Next, the wax model is invested in plaster and placed in an oven to remove the wax, thus leaving a void (or "impression") in the plaster. The void is then filled (or "cast") in precious metal. This process is called "lost wax casting" and has been perfected over thousands of years. This is the same method used to produce some of the world's most famous sculpture. The piece is then finished and stones are set. This entire process is very labor intensive, and great care goes into each detail. Although Inlow Designs Jewelers offers a large variety of loose diamonds and gemstones, and prefers to work with their own material, the customer may also supply their own.
For the customer who wishes to stay within a budget, we have a large selection of pre-made mountings that can accept a variety of stone sizes, with prices from $50. |
